1. On your consolidation application, there was a box for you to check if you wanted to wait until your grace period was over to start repayment and still keep the low interest rates. So, it's a moot point now, but you did not have to start paying right away.
2. Regarding prepayment and overpayment--how could they stop taking your payments? I suggest you call Sallie Mae instead of relying on what a university employee says--as I've experienced how wrong they can be.
