Alpha Sigma Phi does not confer honorary member status; all members are equal in status as Brothers. Faculty advisors may be initiated by the chapter, as long as the person is not already a member of a social Greek organization that is national in scope.
It's not done very often but the closest thing to an honorary membership is Member-At-Large status. These members are not affiliated with any chapter. M-A-L status may also be conferred to selected members of colonies that never reached chartering, as well as members of Phi Pi Phi and Alpha Gamma Upsilon whose chapters were inactive when they merged with Alpha Sigma Phi in 1939 and 1965, respectively. (All members of Alpha Kappa Pi were incorporated into Alpha Sigma Phi when the fraternities consolidated in 1946.)
