Wow this thread is very helpful to me in my current situation. I recently graduated from Indiana University this past spring and decided to return there for graduate school. I was very active in my undergrad chapter and love helping and working with our Neos. Now that I am returning to the campus I am now working with the Grad Chapter.

However, I still want to help out with the undergrad especially with programming and other things. I don't want them to feel like I've abandoned them but I don't want to hinder them from doing their own things. I guess from reading this post that this is a concern for others too.

Maybe some undergrads can respond to what type of support do they want and need from the Alum Chapters. How much interference is too much interference? Any comments would be nice.

Since you do not have the time in an alumnae chapter to be an advisor, you will need to tread carefully. I really don't mean to put a damper on your enthusiasm, but you will need to maintain an arm's length, especially since you know the sorors in the chapter.

Just follow the lead of Bloomington Alumnae.

Unless the undergrad Sorors are asking for your assistance, just be supportive by attending open events and what not. Some assistance that mean well, may become sticky..ya know

^^^ I was thinking this way too. I think just supporting by going to their functions is good. There could be problems otherwise. Plus, I find myself immersed in my graduate chapter activities and still learning on that level. For me, the learning hasn't ended, and while it would be ideal to be 'supportive', I also think undergraduate members need to learn some things for themselves or get the support from their advisor.
