Cool Greeks United

Insofar as the health and strength of our Greek Community depends upon the free and reasonable exchange of ideas in an ever increasingly diverse society, and in consideration of the varied sensibilities of our many organizations and their members, it is likely inevitable that on occasion, even without necessarily realizing it, one member may post something that another member finds objectionable.

In order to maintain civil relations and rational discussions, it is imperative that certain standards be set and uniformly maintained. This job generally falls on the Administrator of this BB, but as one person cannot possibly oversee a board of this size and with this volume of traffic, Moderators have been selected to assist the Administrator in this duty.

Moderators are people too, and are therefore not (really) all-knowing . Consequently, from time to time there may be a thread a Moderator appears to have overlooked that a given member may believe deserves special attention; likewise a Moderator's decision to move/close/edit/delete a particular thread or post may not be one with which a given member may agree. Since reasonable minds can differ on subjective matters, just because two people may disagree, it does not necessarily follow that either is wrong.

If any given member has a question about an action or decision already made by a Moderator, the best course of action is to send a PM to the Moderator(s) in question, or to the the board Administrator. If the Moderator(s) and/or the Administrator determine that the Moderator's(s') original decision was appropriate, please accept that conclusion as final.

If offense is taken to an inappropriate post in an otherwise appropriate thread, the best course of action is to use the "report this post to a moderator" option on the individual post itself. The Moderator(s) will then review the post at his/her/their first opportunity and will take what action he/she/they determine to be appropriate.

Because an immediate need appears to exist for such a discussion, and in an effort to provide a peaceful solution, this thread has been created for the purpose of identifying for the Moderators any threads which a member may feel warrants particular attention. To keep this thread civil and productive, and to allow any subsequent decisions to be made quickly and fairly, please do the following:

1) Post a link to identify the thread in question.
2) Briefly state the issue with the thread (it is objectionable because....., or it is not an appropriate topic for this forum because......, etc.)
3) Suggest what course of action you think would be appropriate (the thread should be moved to the _______ forum instead, the thread should be closed but remain viewable, the thread should be deleted, etc.)
4) Refrain from using language or arguments that could detract from what you would like to see accomplished.
5) Limit discussions about threads warranting special attention to this thread, and to this thread only (i.e. no more new threads, and allow other existing threads to die out).

The Administrator and Moderators are here to maintain for this board an atmosphere conducive to beneficial discussions; help us help you.
