A Little Thank You

Today I went to Spelman College for one of their prospective programs. I would have never expected what took place today to in a million years but when you're connected with God, any and everything can happen. While enduring the promotional pitches for Spelman, I met a woman whose name I will withold. She walked in with her two year old active daughter. Being like any normal toddler, she was very busy and talkative. Most times, I would have become agitated but something told me to have patience this particular instance. So I played with this little girl, letting her play with what few pens and markers I had in my purse while she sat in my lap and drew. Noticing that her daughter had taken a liking to me, she began to talk to me about why I wanted to go to Spelman. So we continued to converse until the woman who was giving the promotional pitch said "There's no woman like a Spelman woman." She stopped in mid-sentence of our conversation and said "There is a woman like a Spelman woman, a Delta woman." I smiled at this comment and asked her was she a Delta. She informed me that she was and I smiled even harder, saying that I knew she was. I asked her where she crossed and she informed me that she crossed at Benedict College. I informed her that I had ALWAYS desired to attend Benedict and she informed me that she was the director of financial aid and admissions there. Talk about being in the right place at the right time!

I say all this to say thank you. Thank you Delta Sigma Theta for producing women of quality and substance. If it were not for you producing women of pride and pushing women to do everything in excellence and to be in the highest positions instead of settling for the entry positions, I would not have met such a phenomenal woman today. Thank you to the Ladies of Delta Sigma Theta for setting high standards for your sorors. To some this may seem insignificant but I just felt the need to say thank you!
