I think that this contrasts how organized religion can easily be either an agent of great good, or of unethical behavior that sometimes is clearly evil.

Those behaving in a way that is unethical, or worse, don't think that they are in the wrong. They think that they are doing good. It reminds me of the old saying that "the path to hell is paved with good intentions." I believe that those organizing in the name of God should always take a deep breath, and act with great humility.
