My take on the movie
***Don't read if you don't want it ruined***
Marky Mark was sent into the future of another planet, where apes ruled. at the end, he found out that the oberon was sent into the past of that planet, where they looked for him. They lived many years (hence why they are old in the transmission) in peace with the apes, with both species flourishing. then Simos (CMOS?

) led the apes in a rebellion against the humans.
When Mark escapes, he goes back to earth, in his own present or the future, it doesn't really matter. He sees the Thade statue and the apes pull up in modern day human technology, meaning they're advanced enough to have come up with this on their own, or at least to use and improve what the humans invented. that doesn't matter either.
My theory on how present day earth is ruled by apes: Remember when the two apes showed Thade where Wahlbergs pod crashed? He then killed them both. He is the only one that knows where it is, aside from the few that Mark showed. He is left alive at the end, and perhaps jailed or whatever. He goes back, gets the pod, fixes it, and goes to earth, which is probably programmed on autopilot. he lands on earth sometime in the past, perhaps a couple hundred years ago, and leads a revolution, civil rights movement, or whatever and succeeds, hence a statue in his honor. i'd say they might have a separate but equal status with humans, or perhaps treat them like they did in the original set of movies right after the ape revolution.
i think this covers it. i'm sure there are holes in my theory though.
