When The Lion King (the Disney movie, not musical) was a big thing, I gave a Lion King calendar to a friend of mine who was a big fan. Her birthday was in October.
When Christmas rolled around that year, she gave me a gift. It was the same calendar.
I don't know if she was just careless or rude. However, I really liked the calendar myself but didn't actually want to buy one for myself.

I have two cousins that did this for years!! The one gave the other a "family heirloom" (read: tacky statue); the other cousin gave it back for another holiday; the first one gave it again for yet another holiday - and so it went for years! It became a major joke among the family.
