Small chapters are already doubling up officers or only electing the ones specified in the C&S. There are 10 required officers now, 9 in the new structure. All of the VP positions have been "equalized" as far as amount of reporting/ responsibility. All VP positions have year-round duties and will have people reporting to them. This is a style that is more like the business world and yes, it will be an adjustment. That's why there will be chapters trialing it this academic year.

Those who are protesting that putting Recruitment and Social together may be correct in saying that it would be unwieldy on THEIR campus. That is not true of all chapters. Recruitment is year-round at some campuses but not all of them. Some chapters have 2-3 social activities/ semester, some 2-3/ week. Everyone is different. If your chapter is larger and/or has a very active social calendar, you'd still choose to elect your social chair.

Please, when it is presented, look closely and think how it may be individualized to the needs of your chapter and try not to think in terms of what current officer titles are. Since Membership was brought up, that office won't exist... those duties will be part of VP Membership and VP Administration. Some offices will translate directly, some will not.
