Facts and Speculation

Not that it does any good at this point, but I think people here should hear this.

I am a very close family member of Doug's, but that is really of no account here.

When something is sent out, or word is passed around, it's best to avoid the term speculation of any form. I heard about the letter posted above from the University, and the facts are that the reported scene of "vomit asphyxiation" and speculation due to alcohol poisoning are incorrect. What it looks like in retrospect, is that the vomit was caused by the loss of bodily functions after death. Those of you who study or read serious subject matter of that, know that to be the case.

The unfortunate thing is that this word got around to some people first who knew Doug and our family, and then they called us asking if it was true. Fortunately, some good friends of mine were able to do damage control, and say what we know believe to be true, he died of a heart failure.

Again, it's not really here or there. Rather, I ask that you keep this in mind for any future tragedies, that you don't post or repeat anything that contains the word speculation until it is known.

That being said, the support and love from the Greek Community at the Vigil at SDSU last week was remarkable and kind. A wonderful turn out by all.
