Talking Good News!!!

After 13 long grueling days of crossing the picket lines and enduring verbal harassment from the professors...the UHPA strike is now over!!! Teachers report back to work tomorrow, but we won't have to go back till Thursday. The faculty got their 10% pay raises across the board, their 2% merit pay, and everything else they wanted. The union still has to ratify it, which may take a week, but they think that it'll be passed.

Right now it doesn't seem like they're going to extend the semester for the days lost, but I have a feeling that the professors are going to have a heckuva time trying to make up for lost time, especially since the last day of instruction in May 2.

Now...it's back to reality for me! The things that I've put off doing during the strike are now coming back to haunt me.

The HSTA public school teachers strike is still going on, but unfortunately...they're nowhere close to a settlement. Please keep Hawaii's children in your thoughts as the school year comes to an end. Thanks.
