As the huge hunt for the Leigh Matthews kidnap killer continued at dawn today, one key to the mystery is: was the man who picked up the ransom money the man who murdered the 21-year-old student?

After 13 days of a family nightmare that gripped the country, Leigh's body was found at about 3.30pm yesterday in the veld south of Johannesburg.

The site was about 1.5km from the R82 in the Walkerville Manor area - apparently near the point where Leigh's shattered father dropped off the ransom on July 9, the day she was kidnapped.

The body was apparently found by a municipal worker mowing near the Grasmere toll plaza, a spot notorious for attacks.
