Because I firmly believe the little children's church song "God is Love," I have always said that I know I am in love with a person when his presence, the thought of him, just his existence in my life makes me feel most certainly in the bossom of God. Not, that without him I lose my connection to God, but that his presence not only does not defile it or soil it, but it seems to testify to it and be a direct result of it.
I am in love when I think of that person and know that I truly want to love him/accept him/nurture him/support him as God does me (welll as best I can). This doesn't mean I'm superhuman or un-selfish it just means the focus has completely shifted from how he makes me feel, to how I can make him feel- just because his presence in my life is that God-ordained.
I am sure I could explained that more eloquently, and perhaps at some point I'll edit, but I hope the point is there.
God is love. I'm in love when I know our interaction is of God- with him is where God wants me to be at that point in my life- its so pure it could only be a gift from God.
