I wouldn'd be too worried about it. If you look at the beginning of the Crush thread it was really just for people's who's posts you really liked, or look forward to seeing post.
Then during the AIM chats it became more focused among cliques of friends crushin' on eachother posting reptitively ad nausea and then small romantic infatuations.
Look at the first half a dozen pages to see the difference in posting theme.
