I have been to myrtle beach too. I didn't like it because everything was so commercialized where i was. But hilton head is small, quiet with just the right amount of activity. I went biking on the beach and parasailing there. Awesome times.
If you dig the humidity, go for it.

Yeah, Myrtle Beach is an interesting beach experience. Because I'm from North Carolina, I've gone lots of times. But it's really... a CHEESY type beach. It's very similar to Daytona Beach. However, one great thing about Myrtle Beach is that excellent shopping has been implemented over the past few years. I wanna go down there just to spend some money!
Both Hilton Head and Charleston are so classy and beautiful, but I agree with whoever said that you have to FIND things to do. If you want a lot of night life, you might be better somewhere else.
