Happy, happy, happy!!!
Hello sisters!
It's been a while since I've posted on here, but I have some great news! Read on...
As I last reported, I had gotten in touch with a woman from Xi Zeta Eta. I went to a meeting in early January, and really enjoyed it. Everyone was really relaxed and friendly and welcoming. It was a business meeting, but afterwards we ate some really good food and played "Scene It?", a game that uses a DVD for some of the questions (a lot of fun!).
Later that week I went to a City Council meeting (evidentally it is a requirement to go to one during your pledge period no matter which chapter here you join). Not a very exciting meeting, but the Xi Zeta Eta sisters there were happy to see me.
The next meeting two weeks later was a social/surprise baby shower for one of the sisters. Unfortunately, I missed it because I had to work all day, and by the time I got off work I was BEAT! But I had kept in constant e-mail contact with the chapter president, and let her know what had happened, so she said just come to the next meeting.
So, the next meeting was another business meeting. There were only five of us there (including me; there had been a big ice storm a few days before, making roads messy), but it still was fun.
This past Saturday was the city council Valentine's Day dance. It was really neat to see Betas of all ages get together and have a good time! Okay, now here's the best part: All of the Beta sisters had just finished dancing to "We are Family", when the sisters of Xi Zeta Eta came to me and the chapter president said "We've talked about it, and we're offering you a bid to join us"!!!! YEAH ME!!!! I was so happy, I went around hugging them all!!
So, after almost a year, I have found my new Beta home here in Virginia with Xi Zeta Eta, a group of ten diverse, funny, open, welcoming, and caring women. Our next meeting is this coming Sunday. I can't wait; we're arranging pledge training for me and the two other pledges (who were already with the chapter) so that we can have our Ritual of Jewels ceremony by the end of the Sorority year!
Oh, and can I just say one more thing:
I LOVE BETA SIGMA PHI!!!!
