Hello everyone!
Though we didn't have all of the cool stuff the national sororities did, my local, Kappa Delta Sigma, was very special to me. It would have been so neat to have a convention; alas, we were only one chapter!
The idea of having a convention for local GLOs has been tossed around for some time. I believe there have even been some regional ones. However, I would like to propose the possiblity of holding a national-level convention for local fraternities and sororities in the Summer of 2004.
I own an event management company here in San Diego, California and so I would like to volunteer my business as the one to get this rolling. This means that, while I would eventually take nominations for people who wish to volunteer to be on event staff or serve as workshop presenters, this event is not by committee.
The convention would be held in San Diego and would include all sorts of activities including: a grand welcoming, fun icebreaker events, workshops covering topics important to locals, local sightseeing (possibly a group trip to Sea World), guest speakers, a grand banquet and more!
I would try to keep it as cost-effective as possible while still allowing for fun things such as: workshop materials, t-shirts, goodie bags, group photo and so on...
I understand that many of you live in other parts of the US (or Canada!)....but I'm hoping the generous advance notice would convince you to attend.
What I would like to know is:
1) How many of you are still interested in the idea of attending a national-level convention?
2) Which time-period do you think would be best? (pick as many as apply or choose your own)
- late May
- early June
- late June
- mid July
- early August
- mid August
- late August
- September
- <fill in the blank with your other suggestion>
Certain time periods have been left out of the above list as my company already has other summer events on the calendar.
Thanks for your input!
.....Kelly
