Hey Sigma K's! I'm new to this forum. I was introduced to it by a great friend and Delta Sigma Phi from Grand Valley Michigan State. We just returned home from an NIC sponsored program called Futures Quest, which is geared towards newer members of fraternities. Now, I know that the NIC is the NPC for fraternities, but I honestly can say that I had way more fun at this "frat camp" than I've had at any NPC sponsored event or convention. I attended the program as a mentor after graduating from the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (UIFI) last summer. There were 14 graduates of UIFI that took four days to go to Indiana and guide newer members of our fraternities on a journey to discovering the potential they have as leaders of their Greek communities. It strives to form values and leadership abilities that allow for the participants to stand alone when making the right decisions. We participated in a high ropes course, let go of our cool caps for the weekend and were welcomed to share parts of our rituals that made the fraternity experience really relate to our values. I wish that every Greek student had the opportunity to attend something like this and I'm determined to do something about it. I'm currently writing letters to our national headquarters, as well as the NPC to encourage them to form more opportunities like that of the NIC.
I know I'm new on this, but I'm really excited to hear and share ideas with you all and I'm glad that I found this site. I hope you all will check out my experience and the journey I took this weekend at Futures Quest. You can check out the NIC's web site and it's programs such as UIFI, IMPACT, and FUTURES QUEST at

(I'm the blonde with the grey sweater on, but dont mind me... we pulled an all-nighter on Saturday night so I was running on no sleep!) Let me know if you have any questions or comments about these programs or if you think that the NPC would benefit with something like this. Hope to hear from y'all soon.
DOVE LOVE,
Ashley
