GWI
My high school had what was called GWI for Junior and senior girls. I don't know what GWI stands for- I wasn't in it. You couldn't have paid me to be in it:
Its basically this. The seniors(The "Ma'ams") that are in it pick the junior girls who are to be initiated. Girls really, really wanted to be in this(I was not one of them, however!). The seniors would "kidnap" the juniors in the middle of the night and take them to a field for The Dumping. Here the Juniors were blindfolded and had stuff poured on them. YOu name it, it was there- food, human waste, anything you can imagine. And the whole school would know where The Dumping was taking place and people would go and watch. The senior guys were also involved in this- each Junior girl was assigned a senior guy. They had to yell "I love you ____!" when they were out in the field.
So that is the first part. Now, people in GWI say it is a service organization. as far as I know, I think they participated in one walk/run and maybe put flags up at the courthouse. Basically, the Juniors were the Senior's slaves for the year.
After the dumping, the Juniors basically sucked up to their "Ma'ams"(Kinda like Big/Lils) for the rest of the year. They had assigned days to bring their Ma'ams lunch, candy, flowers, a gift. Same for the Senior guys they were assigned. Also, at anytimg a senior member or guy could shout: "Air Raid!"(hit the floor), "Fry Like Bacon"(lay on the floor and wiggle) or "Barnyard"(make sound/act like assigned animal). This could happen ANYWHERE. I saw it happen at Chick-Fil-A in the mornings before school.
Then there was Hell Week. There was another dumping. THen for the whole week, the Jrs. had to wear sweatshirts they made that said "I love my Ma'am" on one side and Their Ma'ams name and GWI on the other. They weren't allowed to fix their hair or where make-up the entire week.
GWI had a halloween dance which anyone could attend(meaning, freshmen,sophomores,non-members) which was a Sadie Hawkins dance and they had a winter semi-formal and spring formal for members only. Once the school year ended, the Juniors take over and pick girls for the next year and the cycle started again.
I mean, who in their right mind would want this?? All the "popular" girls were in it. A lot of them thought it would help them get in a sorority in college! I swear! I was looking at a girl's resume from my hometown who came thru rush at UGA and she listed it. When I explained what it was to my sisters, they couldn't believe someone would want to be a part of it.
