Thumbs up Alumni Pyramid

Dear Brother,
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mike Kellar and I am the High Pi for the Theta Lambda Zeta chapter at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. Thanks to the efforts of the Alumni/Graduating Member Ceremony committee, a significant change was adopted at the 2002 General Assembly in the passage of the Alumni/Graduating Member ceremony. Copies of the closed version of this ceremony were distributed at the just concluded Outdoor Leadership Adventure for chapters. A key component of the ceremony is the commemorative Alumni Pyramid.

The pyramid serves two primary purposes. First, as mentioned, is serves as a prop for both the open and closed versions of the ceremony. Reference is made to the pyramid in the ceremonies, as it exemplifies the importance of the Cross and Crescent, the symbol of the ritual. Secondly, this elegant piece serves as a reminder or ‘reconnector’ for Alumni.

Ultimately, however, the goal of this project is to raise $10,000 for the Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation. The Foundation, as you are aware, provides a multitude of resources for undergraduate chapters including book scholarships, leadership seminar scholarships as well as significant underwriting of the cost of Impact Leadership. The comments that have been included in the orders of the 202 Pyramids send to date to Brothers of 92 Zetas have indicated that we are making headway. To date, we have contributed over $1,000 to the Educational Foundation.

Most of you received a letter from Tom Helmbock in May stating that the cost of the Pyramids to the chapters is only $35. Alumni who purchase a Pyramid for their own is $45 and will receive a tax deductible receipt for $10 from the Educational Foundation.

I’m asking for your help in taking this important and influential campaign to the next level. If you have not done so already, please seriously consider ordering a Pyramid for your chapter today. If you have purchased a Pyramid, thank you! A great way to ‘sell’ the Pyramid is to have it on public display; you have something for your alumni to appraise visually. Undoubtedly, they will want to know where to get one!

This entire project has been a labor of love from us in giving back to the Fraternity a small measure of the Fraternity experience has given to us. I hope you will be part of it all.

Please ask your High Rho to pass this information to your chapter’s alumni. Additional details can be found at the Fraternity’s Web site, www.lambachi.org.

In ZAX,
J Michael Kellar
