LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Orlando Bloom, famed for
his work in the "Lord of the Rings" series and the summer smash
"Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," has
signed on for the lead role in director Ridley Scott's period
epic "Kingdom of Heaven."
The story, set in 12th century Europe and the exotic Far
East, revolves around a young peasant who becomes a knight,
saves a kingdom and falls in love with a princess.
The 20th Century Fox project has a January production start
date planned and will shoot in Morocco.
Bloom returns to theaters on Dec. 17 in the third "Rings"
movie, "The Return of the King," and will next summer be seen
opposite Brad Pitt in Wolfgang Petersen's ancient epic "Troy."
