"Alpha Phi teaches us that we were the first organization to use Greek Letters I don't know how that all works out but I'm sure there is a minute difference in how we used them making us the first and making the other one first at something else."
Perhaps Alpha Phi was the first to use Greek letters as their badge. Up until that time, most badges were symbols (kite, key, arrow, etc.). I do know that Kappa Alpha Theta was the first organization to use Greek letters from their inception in January 1870. Kappa Kappa Gamma used Greek letters in October 1870 after Theta, but the planning for Kappa began in 1869.

We thought we were the first, but we were actually the second when you go by founding dates. IC Sorosis existed at Monmouth at the time, but as someone has pointed out, did not take a Greek letter name until much later.

I think our founders were some of the original women's libbers - they wanted something equal to the men and nothing less would do!
