This is exactly why I'm encouraging my daughter to explore greek life and other ways to connect with women on her campus. While she's not a tomboy at all, she's going to be in a program that's 83% male. After listening to her talk about life in her advanced math class last year--where she was one of a handful of girls--I definitely think she'll need an outlet for her "softer side"--an antidote to all the testosterone she's going to be dealing with!
