I agree with most everyone else on here. I grew up in a small town, but we were 30 minutes away from the small city of Greensboro (but big enough to feel "city") and an hour and a half away from either Raleigh or Charlotte. I got to grow up in a country atmosphere, but there wasn't a weekend that went by where my mom didn't take us to "the big mall" or to nearby museums. It's definitely the way to go!
