A couple people have been bugging me to post about my little trip to Seattle last weekend to see the navy boy that I met over Memorial Day weekend
Quickie background for those who hadn't read that post- I met a guy at a wedding over Memorial Day weekend. His sister and several others had been plotting the fixup for a few months now. We hit it off, and less than two weeks later, he had me on a plane to Seattle to visit.
Anyway, the weekend was INCREDIBLE. He is the most kind, intelligent, polite man that I have ever met- definately a keeper!
I got into town on Thursday evening. The flight was good, noneventful. He picked me up at the airport, we drove to downtown. Got a car tour of the downtown area while we waited for the ferry. In order to get to where he lives (Bainbridge Island) you have to take a ferry (there is a bridge, but it's WAY out of the way). Parked the car on the ferry, and by then it was dark. Had a beautiful nighttime view of the city... absolutely gorgeous. Got to the house, hung out with his roommate. He thought he'd have to go to work early in the AM, but got a phone call that something broke so he didn't have to come in until later. So we stayed up for awhile- they drank beer, I drank dacquiris.
Next morning, got up (fairly early, my internal clock was so screwed up). He went to work, his roommate was "babysitting" me for the day (the roommate just got out of the navy the week before, so had nothing to do. He's going to law school, so we talked about that!). We went to their favorite diner for breakfast, then drove up to the Olympic Mountains. Absolutely breathtaking scenery- I have never seen mountains like that before. And a beautiful waterfall too. Drove back, Jason came home about 10 minutes after we did. We went to their favorite place for dinner (the Harbour Pub House), then just came back and hung out. The weather was BEAUTIFUL the whole time I was there. We laid in the hammock in the backyard, which is right on the water with a great view of the Seattle and the Puget Sound.
Saturday, woke up super early and went to downtown Seattle. Saw Pike Place Market...we bought some produce to snack on. Had breakfast at Sister's in Post Alley. Strolled through the market some more, he bought me a HUGE bouquet of flowers and I bought a couple prints. Went back to the house, hung out in their backyard for awhile. Drove to his friend's house for a cookout- met a ton of his friends and their wives. The house was right on the Hood Canal- huge mountains in the background. Was serenaded by himself and 3 other former members of the Naval Academy Glee Club. Set off some fireworks once it got dark, had the neighbors b!tch at us
Sunday, had to run some errands. So I tagged along with him for that. Just a relaxing day hanging out doing everyday stuff and getting to know each other. We headed back to downtown to get me on a taxi to the airport (he had to be at work very early the next day, it would've taken him forever to drive me and get back). Flew home, was a zombie all day Monday because of the time change and b/c I didn't sleep at all on the red eye.
So that's the weekend in a nutshell, leaving out certain details
I really got to know him well, and we had some great, really deep conversations. We've talked in some form everyday since then (actually every day since we met). Not sure what exactly is going to happen, but it's lookin' good! Only problem is the whole Navy thing- his sub is going to be out a lot over the next 8 months or so.
