Actually, "knowing" someone is important when selecting members. If they did select their friends, maybe they were just as qualified or more so than your friend. Since I don't know your friend and you may be biased in her favor (which I would be, too) it is possible that she simply did not meet certain standards that are in place. When she went to these events, did she try to make conversation with my sorors or ask questions not related to AKA, but to the event she was attending? There are so many things she probably could have done or done differently that could have made a difference. However, I hope she doesn't give up on her dream. I wish her luck.
