Girly questions--- guys may want to ignore this one....
The PMS thread inspired this....
But does anyone know someone who has had Endometrial Ablation performed? If so, what are their results/thoughts?
I will be having this surgery done in 6-8 weeks. For anyone who doesn't know (i didn't before my dr suggested it)---Ablation is an alternative to a hystarectomy (sp?). I have had horrible periods since I was a teenager. My dr put me on the pill at 16 to get it under control. I got married, had two kids, got my tubes tied, and realized the pill caused my migraines.
Ablation basically destoys the lining of the uterus---not allowing the endometrial lining to thicken every month, thus there is nothing to shed.
My doctor/surgeon has his own "invented" method--- I will get a shot of Lupron this week-- it will induce menopause, 6-8 weeks after the injection the lining will be thin enough to ablate. The surgeon will use a roller ball and a laser and burn off the enitre uterine lining. Outpatient surgery, supposedly very simple.
According to the surgeon, his record is 95% of his patients NEVER have another period!!! He said if I did, we could opt later to just remove that usless organ (ok- those are my words, not his).
So does anyone know anyone who has had this done?
thanks!
