The only good thing, though with these newer airports is that they have designed the property with sizeable clear zones to reduce the noise footprints of jets taking off and landing. DFW, for example, has a ton of open space at each end of the runways that's owned by the airport; but then that's no guarantee that one day the airport board gets a stupid attack and starts selling off the unused space. And then... back to where you started!

Most of your modern jets are Cat III noise reduction compliant, and with prudent noise-abatement takeoff and landing procedures most jets are well over 1000 feet above the nearest house.

On the other hand, DEN, with its high altitude requires very long runways. (I think they're extending all of 'em to at least 15,000 feet in length.)
