Did anyone watch Dateline last night? I swear, this show seemed like it could have been taped in the 60's, before the civil rights movement. The entire segment was based on the impact that Venus' and Serena's accomplishments will have on the black community. It was totally absurd . They interviewed a former African-American female tennis player (I forgot her name) and it seemed as if they were badgering her to say something bad about the Williams sisters, but of course she didn't. Ted Koppel kept referring to their playing style as "in your face tennis" and insinuated that that type of play had no place in the whitewashed world of tennis. Then he went on to voice his bewilderment as to how the sisters turned out to be so "articulate" considering where they were raised and how their parents talk. I was amazed the whole time I was watching. I just can't believe that in the year 2000, white folks are still in awe that we are dynamic, intelligent, talented people that don't need to assimilate or wear a mask in order to be accepted by them.

I say, "Go 'head Venus and Serena. Keep doing us proud!"
