It's only probation for SN, PiKA, KA at Auburn

Sigma Nu, Pi Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha on probation till spring 2003 at Auburn

The alleged violations for Sigma Nu include the following:
Conducting activities that do not permit adequate time for sleep or study
Intentionally trashing areas for pledges and new members to clean.
Requiring work parties or house duties not shared by initiated members and situations created to produce mental or physical discomfort.
The sanctions for Sigma Nu include the following:


Probation through spring semester
Completion of an approved community service project
Donation of $500 to LEAD, a retreat for Greek leaders to develop character, values and leadership.
Monthly meeting with IFC adviser and president.
Pi Kappa Alpha was notified to cease pledge activity Oct. 11 and a hearing was held Nov. 13.

Alleged violations include the following:

Having pledges or new members perform personal chores and errands.
Requiring work parties or house duties not shared by initiated members.
Situations created to produce mental or physical discomfort.
Violations of the IFC Alcohol and Risk Management policy with regard to pledge and new member activities.
The sanctions for Pi Kappa Alpha include the following:

Probation through spring semester 2003, with exceptions of alcohol-free alumni activities, fundraisers, parent functions and participation in intramurals.
Mandatory increased efforts to build leadership through participation in local, regional and national fraternity leadership conferences.
Employment of an approved resident adviser who is not an undergraduate student.
Establishment of a five-member alumni board to be involved in chapter operations, management and programming on a continuing basis. One alumni board member is required to assist completion of the new member program and be present at all new member activities.
Limit time new members may spend at fraternity house to time around meals.
Monthly meetings with IFC adviser, president and vice president for risk management.
Participation as volunteers for April 11, 2003 Tiger Nights event, which serves to promote diversity and as an alcohol-free entertainment alternative and participation by 80 percent of chapter members in approved community service project.
Kappa Alpha was notified to cease pledge activity Oct. 10 and a hearing was held Oct. 28.

Kappa Alpha's alleged violations include the following:

Conducting activities that do not permit adequate time for sleep or study.
Physical abuse associated with pledge and new member football practice.
Personal servitude abuse associated with interview or signature books.
Consistent and continuing demeaning verbal abuse.
Routinely requiring pledges and new members to serve meals to members.
The sanctions for Kappa Alpha include the following:

Probation through Spring Semester 2003, with exception of participation in intramurals, Greek Week, alumni-supervised and facilitated pledge training activities, scholarship program, golf tournament and parent's weekend.
Completion of an approved community service project.
Donation of $500 to LEAD AU retreat and $500 toward hazing education and initiatives at Auburn.
