Problems with Convention...
Whas up Bruhz!!!
I bring you greetings from the ATL...where have just had the millenium convention of ALPHA!
It was a blast...I and my wife(AKA) chilled with bruhz and sorors from all over the country. The spirit of the fraternity was definitely there...
However, I've got some issues to lay out...
Why is it that conventions prices are out of control...??? How can you expect to have an inclusive convention for ALL Bruhz if the prices of things keep changing...going higher and higher...
Secondly, why is it that info is incorrect and that their is bad legistical planning for all the events!
While we held it down in the ATL. The most important stuff, Like the events and programs were hard to find...late running...and too expensive for the end product...
Many of the undergrad bruhs (and the recent grad bruhz) were really excluded because of bad planning and expense...
Sometimes, I wonder if our organization doesn't need a reality check...Your excluding a major half of the organization when you make step show tickets $25.00+....the Awards ceremony $80.00...what college bruh can afford these kinds of prices
I'm thinking about writing a letter to nationals...
I believe its time we reorganize this! Maybe it's time to hire a convention coordinator for full time hire who can plan this event year-round!
We've been doing this too long for it to be so unorganized! Especially for the money you pay to go! I've seen college conferences better planned...see Big 12 Black Student Union Conference (that hosts more than 10,000 college students)!
The sad thing is that I've talked to AKAs and Deltas who feel the same way about their conventions...
We are too tight to have such raggedy national stuff!
