My turn
Oh my goodness
I was voted GC's Most Controversial of 2000 and I haven't posted anything on this topic. I must be getting soft.
OK, here's my spiel.
- Black men should be exempt from paying FICA if as of the year they were born our life expectancy did not exceed 65.
- Drugs should be decriminalized (this was done in China AND Japan and the drug rate dropped dramatically. BUT the reason it won't be is because IMHO drugs help drive the economy.
- Pornography helps drive the Internet economy (and was one of the few survivors of the dot-com bust of 2000).
- America is not designed so that every citizen can succeed. America is designed to create "winners and losers", ie for every corporate go-getter, someone "gotta make the donuts" and flip the burgers.
Welfare should be redesigned into more empowering tools (college tuition, down payments on housing, etc.).
Skin color should not imply or assume cultural loyalty. Case in point: Clarence Thomas.
Baby boomers, you ain't all that. Stop badmouthing us Gen Xers, especially since we are the byproducts of the low moral and social values you originally promoted and held in high esteem. You fed it, we ate it (like we had a choice).
There are no big words, only small vocabularies.
G. Gordon Liddy, shut the bump up.
G. Gordon Liddy, shut the bump up. Just in case he just now tuned into this message board.
It is MUCH harder to meet a good mate in 2002 than is was in 1972 or 1962.
BET should be banished from the airwaves (or at least until it has a circa 1990 airtime lineup).
People confuse a relationship with God with religion. (the former is DEscriptive, the latter is PREscriptive).
SUVs should be outlawed because they are nothing more than oversized gas-guzzling egomobiles.
America is a very mean spirited and unforgiving country when it comes to crime, punishment, law, and justice.
And lastly, for now, nerdy "nice guys" should get first pick on the fine, good-looking women.
