Tekes do good and let everyone know...

First, congratulations to the NYC Tekes...great job for a great cause.

As important, they let everyone know about it -- something most chapters/divisions, etc. don't.

We wonder why it is there isn't "good" news about Greek Life. Generally it's because we don't get around to telling our story...

From Fraternal News:

New York Area Tekes Support the American Cancer Society's Fight
Against Breast Cancer

(New York, NY) --- Once again, New York area chapters of Tau Kappa
Epsilon have challenged the old "New York attitude" stereotype.
Early Sunday morning, 50 Tau Kappa Epsilon Brothers, representing
three different TKE chapters pulled themselves out of bed to
volunteer their time and efforts for the American Cancer
Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" five-kilometer walk
at Central Park.

Fraters from the Tau-Alpha (NYU), Theta-Sigma (St. Johns) and Xi-
Gamma (NYIT) chapters were all present and quickly became the "go
to" guys for the entire event. Within minutes of being onsite, the
Fraters of Tau Kappa Epsilon became the "force of choice" for event
coordinators. The men spent the day assisting with set up and tear
down of event tents and booths, trash disposal, re-supplying the
refreshments tent, and cheering on the over 20,000 walkers for the
five-kilometer event.

Planners for the event were absolutely ecstatic and amazed by the
assistance the Brothers of Tau Kappa Epsilon provided, and look
forward to calling the men back for non-volunteer work at their other
events.

"I am proud of the efforts of our New York Fraters. They are
living the ideas of Tau Kappa Epsilon by helping others," said Todd
Farmer, Regional Director for Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.

After eight hours of non-stop work at Central Park, it was back to
business as TKE Brothers attended a Province Educational Conference
hosted by the Tau-Alpha chapter at NYU. Province Advisors Peter
Dawson and Michael Hoffman, along with Senior Chapter Consultant
Justin Evers, gave workshops on Rush, Public Relations, Risk
Management, New Member Education and Alumni Relations. Pizza and
soda was provided by the Province, and the day was a huge success for
everyone involved.

Founded in 1899, Tau Kappa Epsilon is the world's largest social
fraternity, with nearly 222,000 initiated members and more than 270
undergraduate chapters and colonies in the United States and Canada.
The TKE Vision is to be the best lifelong collegiate social
fraternity; the TKE Mission is to aid men in their mental, moral, and
social development for life; and the TKE Purpose is to contribute to
the advancement of society through the personal growth of our
members, and service to others.
