Cherokee man charged with stomping pet puppy
A Cherokee County man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly stomping his family's puppy to death.
Last Friday, deputies responding to an animal cruelty call at George Swanson's home in Canton found that the family pet had been apparently stomped to death, said Dep. Nicole Ebbeskotte, spokeswoman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department.
Ebbeskotte said Swanson's daughter told deputies that there had been a verbal altercation and her father took out his frustration on the family's new puppy, stomping the dog to death.
Swanson, 59, was arrested Tuesday and charged with cruelty to animals, simple assault and cruelty to children in the second degree.
He is being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center on $7,025 bond.
