Ok, somone struck a nerve. I am thinking your either A. a local and have no prominent alumni, or B. an Alpha Beta or Tri-Lamb with no prominent alumni.

Sorry, this isn't right either.
As a member of Sigma Pi fraternity, we have plenty of prominent alums. I simply find it much more important to tell prospective new members that we were the 2002 Grand Sage Award winners (top chapter in the country), or that we had last year's Greek Man of the Year, or that we out-rush and out-party every other GLO on campus. To me, those accolades speak for themselves.
I don't think many people care too much that some distant, far-off figurehead once wore my letters.
If I did care, or if people at my school were superficial enough to care about stuff like that, then yeah, I would tell them all about our famous alums. You think I'm bluffing? PM me and I will give you a list of prominent Sigma Pi's. As for this forum, and Greek Life in general, I think things like that are useless and have little bearing on the success and future of our organizations.
