I don't condone this but my friends and I used to steal street signs in high school. We'd take ones that were already knocked down (mind you) and then I used them to decorate by hanging them on the wall. I always thought it was fun because we had a variety: Speed Limit 10, No parking violators will be towed, Men Working (he he he), SLOW, and I even had a cone.
Maybe it's more of a guy thing but I always had a lot of comments on how cool it was. However don't go stealing ones that are already on the poles. That only makes it easier to get caught (or kill someone).
