I think that's why the right is all up at arms about A&E firing them, but the left is (as far as I can see) just laughing about how dumb it all is. Nobody I've seen has actually cared that the guy said it because you can expect no better from those kinds of people. The discussion has solely been about whether A&E should/should not cancel the show and if another station will/won't pick it up.
For my vote, yes A&E had the right to fire him and doing so was not out of line with their mission and yes, another station will pick up the show and wring another season or two out. But being on some far right station it will lose its "normal" viewership, and preaching to the choir doesn't sell product.
I feel sorry for these people. They are losing their way of life and going down kicking and screaming. I think American society is evolving and leaving these yayhoos in the dust, and they don't like it. So in the meantime they are causing havoc for the rest of us who see that time has marched on and you're NEVER getting back Jim Crow (plus intolerance of gays and general abuse of women), no matter how many tea-partiers you elect.
