Mary J. Blige

Hello to the Lovely Ladies of AKA, sister and brother friends. I stopped by to tell you about my recent encounter with Mary J. Blige here in Nashville last weekend.

Well, last Saturday, a few of my frat brothers, friends and myself attended the "No More Drama" tour and to my surprise, Mary was off the hook! She sang all of her hits and a few obscure tunes. No bad notes or anything. Her background singers were off the hook. She sanged this tune called "Children of the Ghetto" that left me speechless. On all of her tunes, Mary sounded just like the cd...better if you asked me. I've seen Mary perform "No More Drama" many times on t.v, however, until you've seen her perform it live in concert, you have yet to hear it....whew, she was feeling it.

I'm glad to see she's made positive changes in her life. She told us that, "I'm no longer an alcoholic, I'm not longer on drugs, and I'm not a slut anymore." I was taken aback by the last comment, but at least she was honest.

I'm not sure if she's wrapped up the tour, but if you get a chance to catch it, you might want to see Ms.Blige in action. A lot of celebrities were in attendance as well. She is definately the Aretha Franklin of our time. I'm in no way an avid Mary fan, but being a musician myself, I truly understand, and recognize good music and good "sanging" when I hear it. Some of these other artist couldn't hold a match to Mary. It kind of reminded me when they put Coco (from SWV) on the same stage as Chaka Khan on one of those "Motown Live" shows. I don't even have to tell yall how that went down.
