Area Panhellenic Information Sessions and Events for Fall 2013/Spring 2014 Recruitmen
There have already been a few questions about this and I know ours are fast approaching, so I thought I would get the ball rolling on listing area Alumnae Panhellenic Association information sessions for high school seniors interested in rushing. To quote a thread started by exlurker in previous years:
Area Alumnae Panhellenics in many places --- especially Texas --- will be offering information sessions for high school seniors interested in Fall 2013 or Spring 2014 NPC sorority recruitment.
They can be especially helpful for "first in family to think of going Greek," or "new to city / region / live in small town / don't know of any sorority women" situations.
Mothers (and dads) are often welcome, too.
These sessions can help answer questions about recruitment. They're a good way to network and get assistance in finding recommendations to sororities, too.
Typically these sessions are scheduled in February, March, April --- check with local Alumnae Panhellenics and be alert for notices in local newspapers.
In my opinion: whatever you may think about the idea/purpose of recommendations, or getting prepared in advance for recruitment, these forums, sessions, etc. can be a godsend. A potential new member, or a mom, can pick up truly useful info and maybe make a new friend or two. Moms who are sorority alumnae can brush up on their knowledge of how recruitment is handled "today" at the college your daughter, granddaughter, etc. plans to attend.
I hope sorority alumnae will post info about more upcoming sessions.
