Hi my name is Kyleigh and I currently attend USFSP in St. Petersburg, Florida. I came to this forum in hopes of educating myself and my university on the creation, foundation and benefits of Greek Life.

A little about my school:
I attend the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Recently we have become separately accredited from our main campus - University of South Florida Tampa. This was a monumental change for the structure of our University and has given us many more opportunities that we were previously offered. However, it has also caused a great deal of trouble for students like myself who are looking to participate in some of the best organizations offered to College Students - Greek Organizations. USF Tampa currently has many greek organizations - some recognized by NPC others are just colonies and start ups. The biggest problem we, the students at USFSP, face is the fact that because we are now a separate branch of USF we are not invited (nor allowed) to participate in Greek Life at the main campus. The problem we face that is a close second, is the fact that USFSP administration does not favor the creation of colonies/chapters of greek life. There are a handful of students who are attempting to sway the opinion of the schools officials so we are granted all of the rights as any other USF student, but the battle will not be easily won.

I am coming to this forum to seek advise and pointers on how to bring Greek organizations to a campus from the very beginning. I need to know things like:

1) Who do I need to approach first - The University Officials or a National Chapter?
2) What are some tactics used to highlight the importance of Greek Organizations on campus?
3) What are some of the requirements you must meet in order to colonize?

The list goes on with all of the questions I have, but I would love to hear from other members of this forum in hopes of expanding my knowledge of the subject.

Thank you in advance for your advise and support.

Kyleigh
