Well, we live in a pretty diverse area and Detroit can be pretty shocking itself but the one thing she had never been exposed to is Judaism. Some parts of Metro Detroit have a large Jewish population but not in the area where she grew up. I wouldn't say it is culture shock. She is finding it interesting though.
