I will say I was told by someone in a sorority at FSU, whom also holds a position in her sorority, that it is not the end of the world without a rec letter as she doesn't even have time to read all of them.
Maybe that's true in her chapter, but she has NO idea about the other 15. Don't let one person's experience make you think that all of Greek life is identical.
