Can they go that far over the total set without changing total? Sorry if the question is a little ignorant. Just curious about how it works.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but today most schools update chapter total every semester after recruitment. However, some set a chapter total that remains the same for quite some time. 119 is the number of women the Panhellenic has set as the ideal number all of the sororities should maintain. However, with so many women going through recruitment these days and quotas being larger every year, chapter sizes are considerably larger as well. Hopefully with the addition of the 2 sororities (Delta Delta Delta that recolonized recently and Kappa Alpha Theta recolonizing this fall), this should help bring quota down and hopefully reduce the overall size of the sororities.
