Please note: for every job (acting) in Los Angeles there are 5,000 submissions. Casting directors may see 500 (and that is a lot). Final callbacks will be anywhere (this is for commercials, not series or movies) from 4 to 10. That's it.
I actually don't think you are a "hater", but you're also not telling me anything that I don't already know. I don't mean that in a snarky way (even though it will probably come across that way). I think people got the (wrong) impression that I just woke up one day and decided that I was going to be an actress. This is not the case. I did my first full-fledged musical when I was in 5th grade. I've been doing bits and pieces ever since then. What stopped me from pushing harder for this up until now was a) my weight (and the confidence issues that go along with that) and b) my singing ability, which didn't really develop well until my Jr year of college, and is still improving even now. The majority of things I had been auditioning for were musicals, which require singing ability.

As for the amount of auditions - I am in Charlotte, not LA. Opportunities here are much fewer and far between, but they are there.

BTW, last night's audition was not spectacular. I had several factors working against me: the two female leads are both technically out of my age range (one was posted at 16-21, the other 40-50), the pianist was a sub, and I had a rehearsal to get to right after, so I rushed myself through my audition. It was Sweeney, for any of you interested.
