1. WHAT SCHOOL DID YOU GET INTIATED AT AND WHAT YEAR?
Theta Omicron Chapter @ Arizona State Univ, Spring 1997
2. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SIGMA KAPPA?
Sigma Kappa was the only sorority on campus I felt I could be myself with, I didn't have to be fake or put on a show. I felt they were women who would like me for who I am and not for what car I drive or the clothes I wear or how I look when I get out of bed in the morning. I found that to be true in my years in the house and even as an alum.
3. WHAT DID YOUR FIRST SET OF LETTERS LOOK LIKE?
My first official block letter shirt was given to me by my mom (big sis) at initiation. It was cream colored with some weird maroon and cream fabric for the letters. It was too big so I didn't really wear it that much.
But I love the letter shirt I gave to my dottie (lil sis) and I have a matching one too; it's a white v-neck fitted tee with navy and yellow (her fav colors) block letters set at a diagonal along one side of the v-neck like the old fashioned monograms from the fifties.
4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY OF RUSH AND WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY SINCE THEN?
My favorite rush memory was on my pref night. Sigma Kappa served sparkling cidar in flute glasses with fruit frozen in ice cubes. The night was coming to a close and after having a wonderful conversation with my soon to be sister I had a single grape sitting in the bottom of my glass. I really wanted to eat it but I didn't want to be unlady-like and reach into the long flute class for it. As if reading my mind, my soon to be sister said, "I know you want that grape, just reach in and get it." It may sound silly but that's probably one of the reasons I put Sigma Kappa first that night.
There are too many memories to just choose one favorite. The fraternity parties, the formals, the sisterhood retreats, the philanthropies, initiations, serenading, skit nights, road trips, socials, winning awards, etc. But I think my best memories are of just sitting on the porch late at night and talking with my sisters about anything and everything and really getting to know them and laughing about stuff into all hours of the night.
