Anya's sisters are trying to prepare her for the homesickness, while not understanding why she would ever want to join a sorority. Anya can't admit to them that she would truly miss having a huge family all living near her; that she would need a set of friends, or sisters, to become her family away from her family; that she would need a home away from her home.

Anya has been receiving mail and emails from Cyprus-Rhodes, but none of much importance. None are from her school's Panhellenic Council. She is nervous about recruitment. She is trying to soak up as much information as she can before heading off for Greek life. But all she can think of now is "10 days left until I'm alone."
