I went through rush as a junior and had heard all the names already but think goodness I had also gotten to know some of the sororities before I went through rush or I probably would have only wanted to pledge 1 or 2 of them. Now, think about freshmen who hear these nicknames and don't have time to get to know the chapter or people in the chapter. They may not want to join a very good chapter b/c of its nickname but little do they know that the chapter was not at all what their nickname protrayed them to be. This happens a great deal-at least at my school in the early 90's.

I was thinking the same thing. I agree with UMgirl and DZRose. Those negative nicknames can perpetuate negative images that potential new members carry into rush. Unfortunately sometimes when mud is thrown, it sticks.
