Desperation and anti-Bush sentiments are why people acted and sometimes act like they don't understand that. I won't get on the Obama rant but I'll say that my predictions during the election came true. He was celebrated for being a great orator and charismatic speaker and leader for NO REASON. Reality has sunk in and people aren't getting the "boom boom clack" (a la Making the Band) that they dumbly assumed they would get. Reality bites, bitches!!!!!!!!

Perhaps this is why I'm not disillusioned. I agreed with his platform, I see parts of his platform being implemented and I'm pleased with that. Perhaps my expectations were more real?

No, it's just that we're spending money in so many other parts of the world, and not tending to our own backyard. We owe so much money, our economy is screwed up etc. And this is isn't all Bush's fault. This all started before him. He just made it worse. And the Middle East has been doing this since forever. What makes anyone think the US can go in and change things over there?

We just have two different opinions, Dee.
I agree completely that we need to spend a lot less on other countries and more on our own. This is why I get so angry when people bash Obama for running up the deficit to help our own people. I didn't hear this same kind of bashing on Bush for the Iraq War, which cost far more than the bailout has.

I don't think the US can change the Middle East, but I do think we have to take action against those who planned 9/11. It is a retaliation thing. The problem is, we were far too distracted by Iraq to really focus on this and it almost seems like it's too late to bother with now. It should have been finished years ago and we look like idiots no matter what happens now.
