I think it was necessary to bring up his marriage to Aaliyah. His marriage to Aaliyah demonstrate a potential pattern of behavior (it doesn't help that he continuously denied the marriage although there is legal documentation). The marriage might not be be viewed as conclusive evidence of deviant behavior in a court of law, but right now Kelly is dealing with the court of public opinion!!! I don't believe Ed Gordon intended to disrespect her (Aaliyah's) memory in anyway.
