wanting to pledge kappa

Hey greeks I am a sophmore at my school and I really would like to pledge kappa, but I do not know if they will consider me. I have a friend who is a kappa at another school in my state and he wants me to pledge. My first year in school I was looked at as the guy from the hood and I know some of them probably think that about me. I have matured WAY past that stage in my life and I am focused on things that matter. I do not want to pledge because of their strolling abilities or because of who is apart of kappa, I want to pledge because of all the great things that the kappas at my school do. I think that pledging kappa will bring me to bigger and better things in life not jus while i am in college but far after I graduate. After all this being said I would just like to know how do you go about telling kappa members on campus you would like to pledge when you do not speak to them on a regular basis?
